Getting closer, looking good. Steady on the helm,
don't smash the little boat into the big one!
When we met the LST at Peoria Lock, the Coast Guard assigned us as the Man Overboard Vessel to escort the LST, which had taken on passengers at the lock. As we were escorting her anyway, we gladly accepted the official position for the 40 mile trip.
Early in the afternoon, we were hailed by Bob Barbier onboard the LST to get a head count for lunch. Bob said he was trying to figure out how to get us fed. The photos were found on the facebook page of Henry Il, taken by Dave Donini, the mayor, who was amongst the passengers on the LST.
The transfer was such a rush, that we repeated it on the return trip to Peoria!
Oct 15, 2010. We were heading to Wheeling to meet our friend Rusty Jebbia for lunch. The early morning fog was terrible. We decided to "jog" in a clear spot for about an hour until it began to lift. It was just clearing as we made contact with the New Cumberland Lock and Dam operator to request passage.
The rest of the day was gorgeous!
